Summer School's venue is changed: Prahova Valley. Prahova Valley is located just couple of hours from Bucharest, the capital of Romania, in the beautiful Carpat Mountain Region. Great view, impressive sightseeing and an excellent location for the summer school.

Prahova Valley is the valley where the Prahova river makes its way between the Bucegi and the Baiului Mountains, in the Carpathian Mountains, Romania. It is a tourist region, situated about 100 km north of the capital city of Bucharest. Geographically, the Prahova River separates the Eastern Carpathians chain from the Southern Carpathians. Historically, the corridor was the most important passage way between the principalities of Wallachia and Transylvania.

This region is one of the most important touristic areas in Romania.

Predeal, the northernmost resort on the Prahova Valley, 25 km from Brasov, 16 km from Sinaia, is the town on the highest elevation in Romania at 1033m altitude. It is surrounded by five massifs: Postavaru, Piatra Mare, Bucegi, Baiului and Fitifoi, being a good base for mountain hikes and, in winter, for skiing down the Clabucet and Cioplea slopes. The name is derived from Romanian "pre deal" which means "on the hill". The place offers easy access to Clabucet, Cioplea, two of the most important areas in Predeal. Other pleasant areas for trips or other sports (mountaineering, climbing, parachuting) are within short distance from Predeal: Paraul Rece, Poiana Secuilor, Susai, Garbova. In summer, you can take trips to the nearby chalets in the mountains (Trei Brazi - elevation 1,128 m, Clabucet Sosire - 1,050 m, Clabucet Plecare - 1,450 m, Girbova - 1,350 m, Piatra Mare - 1,630 m, Susai - 1,350 m, Poiana Secuilor - 1,070 m, etc.) or to the cabins farther away on the crests of the Bucegi.

The Luminiş Villa, George Enescu Memorial House is located in the Cumpătu District, the only district of Sinaia. The town of Sinaia and Luminiş Villa held a special significance for Enescu, who considered them his refuge. Enescu was both sentimentally and professionally connected to this town, mainly due to Queen Elisabeth's support of his musical career.

"Babele" ("the old ladies"). In geography, these rocks with strange shapes are called "mushrooms", resulting from the action of wind called corrosion, which eroded the chalk-stones and the grit stones that they are made from. Historians say that "Babele", traditional designation that certifies that these monuments were once semblances of mountain deity called by the Romans "Deae Veteres".

A variant of the legend of Babele days (March 1-9): an old woman went with the sheep on the mountain. Still being winter, she was wearing thick clothes. Deceived by warm weather in early March, she took off every day one of her sheepskins. In the tenth day, a strong frost came and frozen her and then she was turned into stone-still.
